  1. “However, in our experience, reproducing or sharing zines is not just about copyright. It’s also about zinesters’ right to decide how their work is distributed and how widely, and how it is contextualized. It’s also about community, respect, and just being a nice person.”

    I love this!

  2. Would we also want to include something on the benefits of asking permission? When I contact someone, they’re almost always psyched to be asked, say yes, and sometimes even offer to send me more of their zines. I wonder if we need a whole section on community? But maybe that’s inherent in all of the sections?

  3. The use section doesn’t talk about people using (reading) the zines onsite. Should that topic go here, or does it belong in access?

Wherever it goes, it would be great to make recommendations about readers taking photographs and making photocopies.

We might also recommend that scholars and journalists who intend to write extensively about a particular zine creator’s work really ought to do their best to get in touch with that person.

  4. As with the Privacy section, this is so full of really useful and great information. I second Jenna’s love of ““However, in our experience, reproducing or sharing zines is not just about copyright. It’s also about zinesters’ right to decide how their work is distributed and how widely, and how it is contextualized. It’s also about community, respect, and just being a nice person.” That’s a beautiful sentiment.

Again, though, I wonder whether there’s TOO much detail for a Code of Ethics. This would all be perfect content for a set of best practices.
