ZLuC 2025: Registration is now open!

The Zine Librarians unConference will be held virtually via Zoom on Saturday November 8–Sunday November 9.

The Zine Librarians unConference, a.k.a. ZLuC, is an inspirational, informative, and fun gathering of people who care deeply about zines, their preservation, and their ability to change lives for the better. The unConference uses a broad definition of the term “librarian”- MLIS students, library support staff, zinesters with personal collections, and anyone else in the zine community is welcome and encouraged to attend.

The unConference is held about once a year, and the location and format varies each year. The 2020 ZLuC was also held virtually.

Registration

The registration form for ZLuC 2025 can be found HERE. This form is for both attendee registration (including accommodation requests) and presenter proposals. Presenter proposals include lightning talks, panels, zine library tours, and zine readings.

You can also access the registration form here:

Register for ZLuC 2025 here!

Deadlines for submission vary:

  • Presentation proposals (lightning talks, panel participation, and zine library tours): September 26, 11:59 p.m. CST
  • Requests for accommodation: October 13, 11:59 p.m. CST
  • Attendee registration: November 1, 11:59 p.m. CST

Note: If you choose free registration, the form might show an error under the “Payment Methods” section (because there is no way to process payment information for a free registration). This will not keep you from registering–please feel free to ignore it!

Registration Cost

As in previous years, ZLuC will collect a voluntary registration fee. Given that a virtual unConference involves fewer costs than an in-person event, suggested fee levels have been reduced from last year. However, the unConference still has certain financial requirements (namely: payment for accessibility services such as interpretation or translation; payment for administrative and financial services; and gathering funds for next year’s BIPOC travel grant) which will be supported by the voluntary registration fee.

Registration fees vary :

  • People with no professional development funds: free!
  • People with $1,000 or less in professional development funds: $50
  • People with more than $1,000 in professional development funds: $100
  • Other amount: sliding scale

Presentations

A list of the various types of presentations along with their descriptions can be found here: Presentation Types and Descriptions. unConference organizers anticipate confirming all presenters by Monday, October 13th.

More to come!

  1. Hello,

I’m trying to sign up as a volunteer for the 2025 (un)Conference, but the link to signup isn’t working (I’m getting a Server Not Found error). I’ve tried on FireFox and Chrome, at work, and at home.
